Art | Work

Art | Work” follows moments spent with colleagues in their workspaces.  It covers a period beginning when Susan lived in Saint John NB.

At the time, there was an influx of artists setting up studio in the old Victorian office buildings down-town.  The majority located on Canterbury and Prince William Streets near the port.

Studio rent was cheap and a number of artists came to Saint John after graduating from Halifax’s NSCAD (Nova Scotia College of Art & Design) because of the City’s relative affordability.

There was support from a strong link with the University of New Brunswick in Saint John.  It ran programs, such as Arts Weekend, that provided teaching opportunities for artists, and integrated them into the wider community.
