The Relationship between the Physical & the Emotional

This group of paintings is a more reflective body of work.  The intention of the project was to reveal an emotional response to the physical world.

The idea originated in Fredericton NB., walking through its neighbour-hoods of old Victorian buildings and mature elm trees.

The technical challenges here were capturing light conditions constantly in flux, and painting accurately the hard edge of architecture without drifting into technical drawing.

The most pleasure came from painting the surrounding foliage, dappling the fall of light and shadow across differing surfaces.
